Health and Education Policy Plus
Description:
To understand the effects of heavy reliance on out-of-pocket health expenditure, HP+ conducted an analysis of trends in catastrophic health expenditure in Guatemala between 2000 and 2014. This analysis quantifies the relative burden of such health expenditure on households and examines how it has changed during this timeframe. The results of the analysis also further highlight the limitations of Guatemala's health sector, particularly the lack of access to affordable, high-quality services.
