Community health workers provide essential healthcare services in Mali, and the need for services provided by this essential workforce is only expected to increase over time. Despite the strong reliance on community health workers, the program is largely donor-dependent, jeopardizing the sustainability of this important workforce in the long term. There is an urgent need to support a gradual transition from external sources of funding to domestic funding sources to ensure service continuity.
